"I really enjoyed the course with Sarah, which she made enjoyable and relaxed. Sarah helped me to think and explore various mediums, materials and products and experience things I otherwise would not have thought about myself. It gave me a quiet confidence and
I would definitely recommend Sarah's courses to anyone who has an interest in art"

Indicative programme of work

Week 1
Artwork and glass panel design generation. Working with a chosen theme you will start creating and constructing design ideas for your glass panel, using a range of paper based processes. As you will need to have some idea of what subject you would like to work with (for example, natural forms, shells, architecture perhaps) it would be good if you can collect images (magazines, newspaper, photocopies, postcards etc) and bring them to the first session. If you have some initial ideas if you email information to Sarah she can also look for artists and information on your behalf. In this session you will be exploring your ideas using different drawing methods and collage to originate design ideas for your glass work.

The glass panel that you create will be 500mm x 400mm in size. Please bring an apron or an old shirt to wear as you are likely to get ink and resin on your clothes. A sketchbook and or notebook would be useful.

Week 2
Artwork generation: continue creating and constructing design ideas for the glass panel. Transfer the designs for sandblast onto the glass samples and cut the vinyl.
Week 3
Put vinyl onto the glass panel and cut the design.
Week 4
Work with colour glass resins on to face one of the glass panel.
Week 5
Work with colour glass resins onto face two of the glass panel. Glass panel size: 500mm x 400mm x 8mm Please bring an apron or an old shirt to wear as you are likely to get ink / resin on your clothes. A sketchbook / notebook would be useful.
*As stated above, this course is highly flexible and tailored to participant needs. You will be part of any decisions to change times and dates. Dates towards the end of this course may also need to change because your work is sent off to be sandblasted and can be delayed. If this occurs we will rearrange session dates to suit all participants. Please contact Sarah for further information and to talk about the course - sarah@assemblyarts.co.uk
